Commitment to achieving Net Zero

Applying Agile Limited is committed to achieving Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 in the UK, in line with the UK Government's target — and, given the small and largely avoidable nature of our footprint, we aim to reduce gross emissions year on year and to operate at or near carbon neutrality for Scopes 1 and 2 well before 2030.

Applying Agile Limited (Companies House No. 07600810) is a UK software and cloud consultancy: a micro-enterprise operating a remote-first delivery model with no owned premises, vehicles or manufacturing. Our emissions profile is correspondingly small and dominated by home-office energy, business travel and purchased cloud and digital services.

Baseline and current emissions (estimated, baseline year 2026)

• Scope 1 (direct emissions — fuel, vehicles): 0 tCO2e — no company premises, boilers or vehicles
• Scope 2 (electricity, home-office share): ~0 market-based — the home office is powered by on-site solar generation sufficient for consumption
• Scope 3 (business travel): ~0.1–0.2 tCO2e/year — approximately 3,000 business miles per year, principally by fully electric vehicle charged substantially from on-site solar; rail for longer journeys
• Scope 3 (cloud hosting — serverless workloads in low-carbon Google Cloud/AWS regions): <0.1 tCO2e/year
• Scope 3 (IT equipment, embodied carbon amortised over ≥4-year life): ~0.2 tCO2e/year

Estimated total: approximately 0.4–0.6 tCO2e per year, using UK Government conversion factors and stated assumptions. We refine these estimates at each annual update using recorded travel, metered energy where practicable, and cloud providers' carbon reporting.

Carbon reduction measures in place

• Remote-first delivery — no commuting or routine client-site travel; video-first meetings
• On-site solar generation powering the home office, sized to cover consumption
• Fully electric company road travel, charged substantially from on-site solar
• Rail-first policy for UK business journeys beyond electric-vehicle range
• Serverless-by-default cloud architecture — compute runs only when doing useful work, in our own systems and in the architectures we recommend to clients
• Workloads hosted in UK/EU cloud regions with strong carbon-free energy programmes
• Extended hardware lifecycle (minimum 4 years) with certified WEEE recycling at end of life
• Paper-light operations with digital documents and signatures as standard

Planned measures

• Maintain on-site solar generation and a renewable grid tariff for any residual supply
• Record business travel miles from 2026–27 to replace estimates with actuals
• Include cloud carbon reporting in the architecture reviews we deliver for clients
• Assess verified offsetting for the small residual footprint once measured actuals are established — prioritising reduction over offsetting

Declaration

This Carbon Reduction Plan has been completed and approved by Applying Agile Limited, is published on our website, and will be reviewed and updated at least annually. It reflects our commitment to achieving Net Zero by 2050 and the environmental measures in place and planned to reduce the carbon footprint associated with our business operations.
